This is what it feels like to visit the Taj Mahal, a world-renowned mausoleum in Agra, India. I am a passionate traveler, and visiting the Taj Mahal fulfilled my lifelong dream. And, it was an unforgettable experience. It surpassed all my expectations as the sixth of the New Seven Wonders of the World I had visited so far.

The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built it in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is an architectural masterpiece that took over 20 years to complete. Construction began in 1632 and was completed in 1653. The mausoleum is white marble and incorporates Persian and Mughal architectural styles. The four minarets surrounding the mausoleum lean slightly outward to protect it from earthquakes. Once you reach Agra, you can take a taxi, an auto-rickshaw, or a cycle-rickshaw to the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is located in the city’s heart and is easily accessible.

Entry fee for foreigners and opening time:

INR 1050 (Additional NR 200 to see the main mausoleum). There is no entry fee for children below 15 years (Indian & Foreigner).

Taj Mahal is open every day except on Friday (when it is closed for general viewing).
